Pioneer set the bar, and raised it, a few years ago with their Pioneer Kuro range. Pioneer really were the pioneers of the plasma screen world and although plasma screens are few and far between these days, the Kuro set the benchmark for all flat panel technology that followed.
You'll still be able to pick up a plasma second hand Pioneer TV and it's a mark of how highly regarded they are that Pioneer Kuro plasmas often sell second hand for more than many brand new sets (with all mod cons) go for.
